Toddler playgroup
All children aged 2.5 to 4 years are eligible to join a toddler playgroup. A toddler playgroup supports your child’s development. It helps your child get off to a good start at primary school.
At toddler playgroup, your child will:
- Play with other toddlers (outside) and learn to share.
- Sing songs, play games, do crafts, do puzzles and build things.
- Learn new words, listen to stories and tell stories themselves.
Toddler playgroup starts from the age of 2.5 years.
All children can attend two half-days per week, for 4 hours each time.
That is a total of 8 hours per week.
Has Centrum Jong informed you that your child will be given a VVE indication?
Then your child will be eligible to attend toddler playgroup for four half-days per week.
That is a total of 16 hours per week.

What is VVE?
VVE (early childhood education) is for children growing up in a multilingual environment whose first language is not Dutch. A VVE indication means that your child is eligible to attend toddler playgroup on additional days and that a substantial portion of the associated costs are reimbursed. Centrum Jong determines whether your child will be given a VVE indication.
Where?
There is always a toddler playgroup near you. Every toddler playgroup works together with one or more schools in the neighbourhood. Your child does not need to go to the playgroup associated with the school they will attend when they are older. Registration with the toddler playgroup and the school are not related. Scan the QR code to find the nearest playgroup in your neighbourhood.
Registration
You can start looking around from the age of 14 months. Once you have chosen a playgroup in your neighbourhood, you can register there. Do you need help with the registration?
Then visit the district social team (Sociaal Wijkteam) in your neighbourhood; they can help you.
Centrum Jong will also stay in touch with you regarding toddler playgroups.
In order to register, Centrum Jong and the playgroup need to share some information.
They will ask for your permission to do so.
Costs
The municipality bears most of the costs of the toddler playgroup.
You pay a parental contribution.
